Job Description:
The BIM Specialist will perform structural and civil/structural type modeling work under the supervision of an Engineering Manager and within a team of structural engineers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop expertise in a broad range of BIM skills, demonstrate a willingness to learn, work as part of a team, and produce high-quality designs for our clients
- 3D modeling and drafting details of varying complexity in Autodesk REVIT or other BIM software and transferring redlines to drawings
- Creating plans, sections, elevations, 3D views, details, and schedules from the model
- Assisting in project set-up, including importing reference details, editing general notes, creating new file(s) and managing and linking external files
- Maintain awareness of the production schedule for responsible task(s)
- Review completed tasks at key intervals for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with the development of internal drafting standards, including Revit families
- Assist in communicating with other disciplines and project team members to ensure overall project coordination
- Participate in team and company-wide meetings to discuss project issues, coordination with other disciplines and technical issues
Required Skills:
- Experience in residential/light commercial construction (offices, restaurants, retail, banks, etc.)
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of structural engineering CADD/Revit experience with concrete, wood, steel or light gauge
- Proficient with Autodesk software including Revit and AutoCAD
- Demonstrated ability to effectively visualize and produce 3D BIM models from 2D plans
- Able to work closely with engineers and client documents to create models and drawings from hand sketches and written/verbal specifications
- Basic knowledge of building codes and construction practices (preferred)
- Candidate should take pride in the work they produce and take ownership of creating quality products
- Able to set goals and expectations and hold self and others accountable
